IN THE ENGLISH (AMERICAN) TRANSLATION, ALMOST ALL REFERENCE TO THE HEROINE'S PAST LIFE IS CUT OUT ALTOGETHER SO THAT THE READER DOES NOT REALIZE HER LESBIAN NATURE. SOME REFERENCE TO LESBIANISM IS LEFT IN THE CENTER SECTION, BUT ONLY THE EPISODES INSTIGA= TED BY THE MAN IN HIS ATTEMPT TO DEGRADE THE HEROINE. EVEN MORE DESPICABLE, THE ENDING IS ALTERED TO MAKE IT APPEAR THAT THE MAN ATTRACTS THE YOUNG GIRL RATHER THAN THE HEROINE.

THE CRITIC WHO REVIEWED WARRIOR'S REST FOR THE LONDON TIMES LITERARY SUPPLEMENT HAS THIS TO SAY ABOUT THE DELIBERATE CENSORSHIP: "A CURIOUS CENSORSHIP HAS BEEN AT WORK IN THIS TRANSLATION. AN OCCURRENCE OF THIS KIND IS DESPICABLE IN A WORLD A COUNTRY SUPPOSEDLY DEDICATED TO FREEDOM.
